New Waterfront Detroit Park Advancing Towards Fall Opening

The new 22-acre park coming to Detroit’s waterfront is making progress towards completion, with the first sections of sod now laid down and bringing some green to the space for the soon-to-open Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park.

The park, a yearslong project that first broke ground in the spring of 2022, is one of multiple green space projects in the city in recent years, with others including work along the east riverfront and the creation of the Southwest Greenway, which connects to the forthcoming new park.

A grand opening will take place in October of this year, according to a recent post by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
